Axis Hospital Staff Issued a Book on Health Tourism

Mr. Roberto Posavec and Dr. Robert Saftic have published a book about electronic and mobile business (patient communication and interaction, data management) and internet marketing strategies in health tourism.

At the end of the last academic year, Mr. Roberto Posavec successfully wrote and defended the final thesis with title “Electronic and mobile business in health tourism” under the supervision of Prof. Marijana Zekic-Susac at Faculty of Economics in Osijek, Croatia.

After several successful projects in the field of mobile technology, health tourism, and humanitarian work, he decided to write a final thesis that will consolidate the majority of previous knowledge that he have in recent years gained as a student of the Faculty of Economics in Osijek, Secretary IT-computer unit club Vinkovci, president of the Society for Spine Diseases Spinoteka and Associate at Special Hospital for neurosurgery and orthopedics Axis (formerly Clinic Vertebris).

Shortly after the defending the thesis, Mrs. Hannah Olsen from the publishing house Lambert Academic Publishing (LAP), which specializes in publishing promising academic papers (final papers, master thesis, dissertation), approached him and asked to translate the thesis into English because they concluded the thesis has a future as a real book on the international markets. After the translation into English, expanding the content in collaboration with neurosurgeon dr. Robert Saftic, and review by the LAP Commission, they got the green light to prepare the book for publishing, which eventually happened in 28th November 2012 when the book was published and included in the German National Library (DNB) entitled “Electronic and mobile business in health tourism” under the ISBN number 978-3659292545.

The book is primarily aimed at small and medium-sized private health institutions that are interested in a breakthrough in the global market of medical services and attracting medical tourists – but with minimal investments in marketing and new staff. It is explained, in the simplest possible way, how to integrate certain sorts of electronic and mobile business and marketing strategies into health institutions with minimal investments.

According to the publisher, the book can be purchased in over 80,000 bookstores and at more than 3,000 online stores on a worldwide basis.

Abstract

Health tourism supported by information and communications technology (ICT) and the integration of electronic and mobile business is a great potential for numerous health institutions in continental and Adriatic Croatia because it gives the option to prolong the tourist season on the entire year. We are able to offer great climate, quality accommodation capacity, specialized doctors trained in the leading world centers, quality medical infrastructure and significantly more affordable prices for medical treatments than in most competitive countries. This book is useful for all institutions which have capacity and options to focus part of their activities on international markets in the sense of attracting medical tourists. It is explained, in the simplest possible way, how to integrate certain sorts of electronic and mobile business into health institutions with minimal investments. Further development of computer science, but also the increased patient trust, will significantly increase the income for the entire health tourism sector of the Republic of Croatia. Expansion, advertising and communication principles explained in this book can be applied in all other parts of the world in all fields of medicine.
